Dr. Hanan Aldarmaki, Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning and Assistant Professor of Natural Language Processing at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), is one of the Emirati individuals who has chosen scientific research as a career and an intellectual passion. His path combines advanced academic achievement, research, and contributions to the development of artificial intelligence technologies.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Aldarmaki noted the growing interest among Emirati students in this field and stated that Emirati women now have many options to pursue higher education and develop careers in scientific research and artificial intelligence within the nation, thanks to the support of the UAE leadership.
According to Dr. Hanan Aldarmaki of Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, the UAE’s sustained investments in education, science, and innovation are helping Emirati women to play a growing role in artificial intelligence research. Aldarmaki, the first female and Emirati faculty member at MBZUAI, emphasized her work on processing Arabic and Emirati dialects and said that using AI to preserve language also contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage. She also mentioned the expanding opportunities in AI research and education for Emiratis, such as the new Ruwwad AI Scholars postdoctoral fellowship offered by MBZUAI.
